This 2026 piece by Asha Kalifa, shown recently a Portobello Road, Gallery Exhibition is inspired by the sea and its constant state of motion. There are moments of calm, moments of turbulence, and moments where the two exist simultaneously. The ocean does not resist its nature, nor does it apologise for its storms. In the same way, personal growth often requires us to move through uncertainty rather than around it.
The textures within the work represent those unseen chapters: challenges, decisions, endings, beginnings, and the gradual reshaping of identity that occurs through lived experience. What may initially appear chaotic reveals its own rhythm upon closer inspection, suggesting that transformation is not something to be feared or controlled, but something to be trusted.
This work invites the viewer to reflect on their own journey and to consider that periods of disruption are often not obstacles to growth, but evidence of it.
Original mixed-media artwork on canvas
Size : 42 x 59.4 cm
